Say hello to Abby Rose! We dare you to find a bone in her body that isn’t creative. As a wedding photographer, florist, and set designer, Abby curates beauty all-day-every-day. Maybe you’ve seen her work in Darling or Cottage Hill Magazine? Get to know the lady behind the lens as our Buy Better Not More series continues.
What is your favorite piece from our Fall Collection & why?
The Aida Tote. It goes with anything and it fits all of my work gear! (camera, laptop, SD cases, hard drive + my personal belongings)
What inspires your personal style?
SIMPLICITY! Being an artist, most of the time the last thing I am able to put creativity into is getting dressed in the morning. My husband is a fashion genius and helps me a lot with this, I try to stick with the basics, knowing that I can mix/match just about anything in my closet and it will look like a well put together outfit.
How do you live simply?
Currently, we are going through a major home/closet edit. In just a couple of months, we are moving downtown into a very simple studio apartment! (YAY) But this means our closet is going from a ginormous walk-in to a tiny coat rack… The more we edit and take away, the more I realize all the bulk + excess really isn’t needed.
Why is it important to buy better, not more?
Prime example: Last year I purchased an $80 simple, black sweater from a local shop here in Tulsa. It was so soft + looked really nice. I was going through my closet a few days ago when I came across this black sweater. It was un-wearable! Extremely balled up, I tossed it in the “give away” pile. My mom on the other hand, purchased a high quality sweater six years ago that currently looks like she bought it yesterday. This made me realize I would rather pay $300 once every ten years than $80 every year for 10 years.
What piece of the Brave Manifesto resonates most with you and why?
Practice Radical Generosity
Nothing feels better than blessing someone.
We’re all for keeping our shelves stocked with classic reads, and our music libraries timeless. What would you add to our libraries?
- Good reads: Girl Boss + The Bible. Cliché? Maybe, but truly all I read.
- Good tunes: The Head and The Heart’s new album! And Drake. I love me some Drake.
