Brave Spotlight || Chandra Fredrick

 This season we’re focusing on brave women that inspire us. One of those women is named Chandra Fredrick, and we are SO excited to introduce you to her.

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I’m a busy and tired mama of three sweet boys, ages 6, 3, and 18 months. I work from home on a site I founded called Oh Lovely Day, where I try to share, inspire, and keep things real on all things family, home, style, and adventure. I married my high school sweetheart at 30 after being off and on since high school and we live in Los Angeles.

What inspires your personal style?

My daily life mostly dictates my personal style — being the busy mom of three small boys, it needs to be comfortable and easy to play in, resilient to use and wear, but still chic. I prefer good quality staple pieces over lots of cheaper seasonal or on-trend items. Simple, minimal, classic. There are some really stylish mamas out there on Instagram whose styles I love and am inspired by as well: Taylor Sterling (@taylorsterling) and Lindsay Meyer-Harley (@lindsaymeyerharley) are two great examples. They dress in beautiful pieces that are functional, stylish, comfortable, and chic all at the same time.

What piece of the Brave Manifesto resonates most with you? Why?

“Like a girl” is a compliment resonates most with me. As the mom of boys, I consider it my duty to raise men who believe in gender equality and fight for it as well. Women do such incredible things all the time — things that only women could and would do. So for me, “like a girl” means with all of the determination, strength, and empathy you’ve got 🙂

This season we’re focusing on trusting in the magic of new beginnings. Can you tell us about a time where you saw this kind of magic first hand?

Actually, my family and I are about to embark on a new beginning of our own: we made the difficult decision to leave our home in Los Angeles and make a new home in a smaller city in Ohio. It is a scary move to leave the place we love and always pictured raising our family for a smaller, simpler existence but it feels right and we’re trusting in that magic in our new beginning.

What is your favorite piece in our Spring collection?

It’s a tie between the rose gold slides and the Aida tote in black, because I basically use both every single day!
