We’re excited to introduce you to Vicky, one of the 11 young women who will work with Sseko for the next 9 months while earning an income for university in the fall!
Vicky comes from a family of ten children, and is the eldest girl. In such a big family, “people weren’t always living united,” a struggle she seeks to overcome through prayer. Unity is the thing Vicky has enjoyed most about Sseko so far, the way people from different backgrounds work together. We’re incredibly proud of our veteran staff for fostering such a cooperative and welcoming environment.
Vicky hopes to learn beading, which strikes her as the most fun and interesting job, and she’s also hoping to learn budgeting and time management. In her spare time, she enjoys singing and making new friends, and her favorite color is pink. Those who know her best admire Vicky for being funny and talkative, but also very straightforward.
Vicky knows that education exposes people to a variety of opportunities, and true to her style, she has straightforward educational goals. She advises people to “always get focused on where they want to be and what they want to do in the future.” Because she had a strong passion for math in school, Vicky hopes to study statistics so she can pursue her dream job of being an accountant.
