Brave Spotlight, Sseko Style

Tori Roloff | Buy Better Not More Vol. 1

Our Fall 2016 Collection is all about simplicity. It’s centered around buying better, not more. Each piece was carefully designed to be carried with you for years to come, and we incorporated timeless colors like caramel, blacks and ivories so that each piece may become a wardrobe staple. In the spirit of buying better, not more, we’ve reached out to our favorite fashionistas for tips on how to keep a simple wardrobe that feels new throughout the season. These beautiful women have joined our #buybetternotmore movement, and we are excited to share the first post in this series with you! First up, Tori Roloff – kindergarden teacher!

What is your favorite piece from our Fall Collection & why?

I LOVE the leather bucket bag! It is so easy to throw on with ANY outfit, and I am all about easy. It will also hold anything and everything I need- whether it’s going to the farm for a pool day, or going to school!

What inspires your personal style?

I am all about comfort. I am a kindergarten teacher, and so I need a cute outfit that is also comfy! I like soft fabrics, and anything that is not too tight. Scarves are a total must for me, and I LOVE the Wanderlust Shawl! It makes the perfect scarf or cozy cover up!

How do you live simply?

I am all about simple. Again- I am a kindergarten teacher and there are a million things a day that happen that try to make my life more complicated. I crave simplicity in any and all tasks. When it comes to my clothing I like to pick simple pieces that can go together with many different outfits!

Why is it important to buy better, not more?

I have always been the type that would rather spend a little more on one item, then spend less money on more items. I go for quality over quantity. I think this is important, because we live in a world where we are always looking for the next best thing. However, if it doesn’t work- what is it worth?

Why is education so important to you?

Education is such an important value to me. I am a teacher, and I spend my days telling my students they CAN do all things. We take education for granted here in the United States, and the opportunities that Sseko is providing for these women in Uganda is unbelievable. They are living in a society of male domination, and poverty. They are living in a world where education is a gift, and not just handed to them. I am inspired by what Sseko is doing for these women, and I pray they continue to grow, and we get to see many more successful women!

We’re all for keeping our shelves stocked with classic reads, and our music libraries timeless. What would you add to our libraries?

Okay books:

The light between Oceans (I’m not completely done-but I love it)

…and only because I’ve read it a million times: Water For Elephants

Music:

Anything Ben Howard… Or Adele… Or Beyonce…

Thanks for asking, Elizabeth! We didn’t get our girl in sandals for this shoot, so we’re not sure what she’s wearing!
